Miami, FL – On March 2, 2017, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Larkin University organized another faculty development event – a research seminar delivered by Dr. Appu Rathinavelu, Associate Dean for Planning and Development and Professor at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) College of Pharmacy and Executive Director of NSU’s Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research. The presentation titled “An Overview of Cancer Drug Discovery: From Bench to Pre-Clinical” provided audience a clear understanding of anticancer drug development process and demonstrated the value of inhibiting angiogenesis, a key hallmark of cancer growth and metastasis, to achieve therapeutic benefit for cancer patients. Dr. Rathinavelu also discussed various possibilities of research collaboration and opportunities for extramural funding.
