It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larkin University Trustee Dr Leonard A. Levy, DPM, MPH on February 21, 2023 at the age of 87.
Dr. Leonard A. Levy served as dean of three podiatric medical schools and president of one. He has had many accomplishments throughout his life and career including being the first podiatric physician appointed a Fulbright Scholar, author of 111 peer reviewed articles in osteopathic medical, allopathic medical, public health, and podiatric medical journals and author/editor of two major podiatric medical texts. He has lectured nationwide and internationally to physicians, other health professionals, and health professional students.
Dr. Levy was a founding member of our Board of Trustees of Larkin University that he joined due to his interest and experience in health professions education and training. His years of dedicated service and generous donations have helped to shape the University and its mission. His passion for education and commitment to excellence has left an indelible mark on our community. As an engaged Trustee he always put a strong emphasis on quality research and scholarship and chaired the development of LU’s current strategic plan for research and development, and assisted the University to become nationally and internationally recognized through its educational programs, research, and scholarly activity, and in the development of solutions that promote the common good of health and society.
