Job Description

Larkin University is a private, non-profit educational institution comprised of the College of Biomedical Sciences, the College of Pharmacy and the PA Program. Larkin University is a private non-profit higher education institution focusing on master’s and doctoral level programs in health professions to empower diverse graduates who reflect the demographics of the healthcare needs of the communities we serve.

Position:
General Responsibilities Include:
• Provide instruction in the didactic and clinical phase of the PA Program.
• Participate in curriculum development and revision.
• Serve on Program and University committees as assigned.
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate students.
• Adequate delivery of course content following all learning objectives according to program standards.
• Serve as academic advisor for assigned students.
o Participate in the admission process including application review and interview.
o Participate in the preparation of the student handbook and university catalogue.
o Provide input in the writing of accreditation documents.
o Participate in advisory board meetings.
Education, Preparation, and Training
o The instructional faculty must be an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant and/or possess a master’s degree in a Health Sciences field (e.g., Health Science, Medicine, Physician Assistant, Public Health). All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
o Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience in medical related field and 3 years of teaching experience.
o The PA candidate must graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program.
o Maintain NCCPA board certification.
o Participate in scholarly and research activities; maintain CME requirements.

o Full-time faculty members are encouraged to participate in clinical practice to maintain clinical skills and to ensure quality of teaching. A one-day release time is available to full-time faculty who secure clinical practice. Faculty who practices one day/week are still responsible for the duties and responsibilities listed in their job descriptions.
