Ft Lauderdale, FL – April 26, 2025 – Adenike Ake, a student at Larkin University’s College of Biomedical Sciences, was awarded Best Student Poster by ACS President Dr. Dorothy J. Phillips at the 2025 Chemical Sciences Symposium, hosted by the South Florida Chapter of the American Chemical Society. Adenike, who conducted her research under Dr. Sandeep Sheth, Associate Professor and Interim-Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, presented her abstract titled “Characterization of Novel Cytokinin Analogs for the Prevention of Cisplatin Ototoxicity.”
Her work is part of an international collaboration between Larkin University’s Colleges of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and Palacký University in the Czech Republic. Adenike Ake is set to graduate with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences this summer and is preparing to continue her journey toward medical school.
Larkin University had a strong presence at the symposium, with several students presenting their research across a range of disciplines. In addition, Dr. Thomas A. Edwards, Professor in the College of Biomedical Sciences, delivered a plenary talk titled “Designer Proteins for the Manipulation of Intracellular Signaling Pathways,” highlighting cutting-edge advancements in the field.
