Dr. Anna Dellarole completed her degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Piemonte Orientale “Amedeo Avogadro” in Italy. She then continued her education and obtained her Ph.D. in Neuropsycopharmacology at the same University. Following, she completed her Post-Doc at the University of Miami, FL, Miller School of Medicine, The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
As a PhD student she worked on investigating the physio-pathological role of adult neurogenesis in neuropsychiatric and neurological diseases, such as depression, Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathic pain. During her Post-Doc she studied the molecular mechanisms associated with the development of comorbid depression in neuropathic pain.
Through her educational foundation in pharmacology and her experience as a basic research scientist, she has developed a growing interest in the clinical aspects of disease states and pharmacological treatments. Ultimately, this led her to earn her pharmacist license in the USA and to develop clinical skills through the practice of Medication Therapy Management (MTM), and as a Clinical Pharmacist in Investigational Drug Services (Phase 1-3 oncology studies).
Research Interest
Her current research interests are in mitigating drug interactions and reducing polypharmacy to ensure the safe and effective delivery of pharmacotherapies. Other areas of interests include improving medication adherence and patients’ outcomes in ethnically different and underserved populations.
