Dr. Melinda L. Contreras has 20 years of experience in education in which she has managed hundreds of educational programs within medical education and has reviewed Common Core Standards for 39 U.S. states for Cognia. Dr. Contreras has a Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Management and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. Dr. Contreras is currently the Director of Practice Programs for the Office of Experiential Education and an Assistant Professor for the Pharmacy of College. She is also an Adjunct Professor for Nova Southeastern University within the College of Health Sciences. As a former Assistant Professor and Course Director for the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University, she implemented a Faculty Mentoring program and thematic analyses for end of course evaluations and faculty evaluations.

She is the 2018 sole recipient of the Integrity Award, which was awarded by Western Governors University.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Contreras’s teaching interests and experience include topics within Healthcare Management Management, Professional/Interprofessional Leadership and Communication, Medical Law and Ethics, Business, Medical Writing and Social Emotional Learning, SEL.

Research Interests

Dr. Contreras is an Urban STEM Educational Researcher. Due to her research in Physics education, Harvard University, in partnership with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and under a NASA grant, has featured Dr. Contreras’s latest study.
