Miami, FL — Joshua Caballero, PharmD, BCPP, FCCP was awarded the Phi Lambda Sigma, leadership fraternity, Advisor of the Year award at the 2017 American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting held in San Francisco, CA from March 24 – 27, 2017.

In his role, he secured funding from Target® to host active skills leadership seminars for the students. The President of Phi Lambda Sigma, Kem Krueger, PharmD, PhD, stated “the nomination focused on his unrelenting and selfless mentoring.”
“It is a humbling experience and I’m honored to be included amongst the leaders in Pharmacy education who have been recipients of this award since 2006. I have always believed in mentoring students and faculty, and that philosophy continues to guide me in my role as department chair at Larkin”, said Dr. Caballero. He added, “Part of teaching is that we must help our students celebrate their failures since these failures will serve as opportunities to better serve patients when they are licensed pharmacists”.
The Phi Lambda Sigma Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award was established in 2005 to recognize an advisor of a Phi Lambda Sigma chapter who has promoted student leadership, actively contributed to the achievements of their local chapters, and served in leadership roles in the professions and/or the community.
