Admission Requirements
Thank you for your interest in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at Larkin College of Pharmacy. We are currently accepting applications for the Pharm.D Class of 2028 through Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) beginning July 11, 2024, through June 2, 2025.
- Completion of 60 semester credit hours of prerequisite coursework with a preferred 2.5 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Two letters of recommendation (One letter from a faculty, advisor, or supervisor highly recommended)
- Personal statement
- If selected, a live interview.
- Criminal background check and drug screening, if admitted

Notes:
- We only accept completion of coursework with a grade of C- or better. Any courses in which you received a D+, D, or D- must be retaken.
- Larkin University College of Pharmacy may consider coursework taken at Foreign Institutions that have been evaluated for U.S Institution equivalency by an approved National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) organization such as World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. and/or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
- All required pre-requisite coursework is based on semester credit hours. If your institution uses a quarter system, please note that 1 semester hour equals 1.5 quarter hours, or 1 quarter hour equals .6667 semester hours. To convert semester hours into quarter hours, divide the quarter-credit hours by 1.5 or multiply the semester credit hours by 0.6667.

Congratulations on your acceptance into Larkin University College of Pharmacy. Each of you has been selected to be part of the Class of 2028 because of your determination and passion for becoming a pharmacist, your commitment, and your hard work. We are thrilled to welcome you to the Larkin pharmily and our unique learner-centered program. We want to ensure that you are prepared to get started as soon as you arrive on campus for Orientation. Please read this webpage in its entirety and note the deadlines for each section.

We accept admissions applications through PharmCAS. You can apply by going to the PharmCAS website (www.pharmcas.org) and creating an application account and selecting Larkin University in the application.

As soon as possible. Applications may be submitted prior to completion of the prerequisites, but you should plan to complete all pre-requisites by June before the start of the program to provide final grades to the Admissions Department prior to beginning classes.
Yes, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required.

Currently the Doctor of Pharmacy program does not qualify for the Federal Student Aid programs. LU offers Private Student Loans through various lenders. Private Student Loans are applied for on an annual basis, at the beginning of the academic year. Private Student Loans are based on the creditworthiness of the borrower. You can increase your chances of getting approved and receiving a lower interest rate by applying with a credit-worthy co-borrower. Repayment begins after graduation or after a student’s status falls below less than half-time or student’s last date of attendance, whichever comes first. Private Student Loan interest rates differ for all lenders, depending on the borrower’s credit history.

A supplemental application is not required; however, students must complete the supplemental questions asked of them in their PharmCAS application.
The Admissions Committee has a holistic review process which takes into account a student’s entire application including the personal statement and letters of recommendation. Applicants are considered competitive with a verified PharmCAS application, a preferred PCAT composite score in the 50th percentile and a preferred overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The LU College of Pharmacy considers international students.
If English is not your native language, you are strongly encouraged to take the internet-based TOEFL.
Yes, you should enter the coursework you plan to take in your PharmCAS application so that the Admissions Committee can consider your plan for completion of all prerequisites. Please ensure all prerequisite coursework is completed by June prior to the start of the program.
The College of Pharmacy’s curriculum has been created to enhance active learning and retention of information by focusing most of the courses into two-week blocks within a 16-week semester. There are also longitudinal courses that serve to reinforce your educational experience throughout the curriculum. The COP’s three-year program has a similar number of credit hours (141) as a traditional four-year program, but it is accelerated and continues year-round. The full curriculum can be found here.
Due to the accelerated nature of the program, as well as the intensity of the doctoral level coursework, it is not recommended that students work full time while enrolled. If students choose to work, it is recommended not to exceed more than 10 hours per week.
