Our Student Organizations support your professional and leadership development to help prepare you for opportunities and experiences in your profession. Our student organizations represent many areas of pharmacy interest.
Student Government Association
The College of Pharmacy Student Government Association (SGA) is the official student organization created by the students of the College and was chartered in 2016. The SGA serves as the voice of the student body and all COP students are members of SGA. The role of the SGA includes providing administrative support to all student organizations, managing communications including an events calendar, fundraising coordination, and providing a forum for student dialogue and expression of ideas and concerns.
American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP)
The mission of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, to provide opportunities for professional growth, to improve patient care, and to envision and advance the future of pharmacy.
Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO)
IPhO is the organization whose pharmacist members are universally recognized within the pharmaceutical industry as being the most professionally equipped to contribute to the development, commercialization, promotion, and optimal use of medicines.
IPhO National Student Members are recognized as the best prepared among all student pharmacists to pursue pharmaceutical industry-focused career opportunities. National Student Members have an excellent working knowledge of common industry pharmacist roles and key pharmaceutical industry driving forces, as well as an understanding of the skills and experiences necessary to become a successful industry pharmacist.
ASHP is the largest association of pharmacy professionals in the United States, representing 60,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians in all patient care settings, including hospitals, ambulatory clinics, and health-system community pharmacies. In addition, ASHP is the accrediting body for pharmacy residency and technician training programs, and provides comprehensive resources to support pharmacy professionals through every stage of their careers. SSHPs help introduce ASHP and the practice of health-system pharmacy, pharmacy residencies, and practice advancement to student members.
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Incorporated (ΚΨ) is the largest professional pharmaceutical fraternity in the world with more than 6,000 student members and more than 87,000 alumni members. It was founded in 1879 at Russell Military Academy in New Haven, Connecticut as the Society of Kappa Psi.
Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) is a co-ed professional pharmacy fraternity founded in 1883 at the University of Michigan. Its mission is to provide a lifelong home for pharmacy professionals, fostering Brotherhood, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship.
Services for Larkin University students with disabilities are provided by the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, as directed by the Vice President of Student Affairs and Admissions, Dr. Lynne Arric. Services are provided to permit equal access to otherwise qualified students with disabilities to all curricular and co-curricular opportunities. In addition, the office provides leadership and guidance to the campus community to ensure compliance with legal requirements for equal access while enhancing understanding and support of students with disabilities. The office supports the caring environment of LU through its one-on-one relationships with students and strives to provide a holistic educational experience, which prepares each student to be united and equal with the non-disabled population, while assuring their human and legal rights.
Eligibility
To be eligible for services, students must be enrolled at Larkin University. Students with disabilities must identify themselves and provide professional documentation to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Admissions. Faculty members are not expected to provide an accommodation unless the student presents verification of needs from the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions. Larkin University (LU) is committed to continuous quality improvement and expects all members of the LU community to uphold the non-discrimination statement. Students have the opportunity within their respective programs and Colleges to provide feedback regarding courses, faculty, and student support services. Policies and procedures regarding harassment and complaints can be found in each program’s Student Handbook. Students may bring concerns or questions to the attention of the Student Ombudsperson, Dr. Lynne Arric, who will assist students with processes and procedures related to complaints, discrimination, or harassment.
Housing Options
Larkin University is located in Miami Gardens and is a commuter campus. Nearby cities include North Miami Beach, North Miami, Ives Estates, and Opa-Locka. On-campus housing is not available, but several options are listed below to assist you in your housing search.
Finding affordable housing in South Florida can be challenging so please begin your search as early as possible.
