Enrique Fernandez, M.D., M.S.Ed. is the Medical Director for the Master in Physician Assistant Program. A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Fernandez earned his MD at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Santa Monica Hospital, UCLA Medical Center.  He went on to earn his MSEd at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Fernandez served in the U.S. Public Health Service, where he administered federal physician assistant and medical education training-grant programs, medical education health policy studies, faculty development and medical education research.  He has held senior academic appointments at several medical schools. Dr. Fernandez has extensive teaching and patient care experience, working in a variety of clinical settings alongside physicians and physician assistants as part of an interprofessional team. Dr. Fernandez continues to advocate for the advanced integration of technology in education while emphasizing the importance of patient-centered delivery of care that recognizes the evolving relationship between practitioners and patients. His interests include faculty development, and training for cultural competence/cultural humility.
